Pirates opened their road campaign with trip to Murrayfield to face the Edinburgh Capitals and they started brightly with Robertson
going close and Jonsson just unable to get on the rebound. with Swan and Donovan close in similar fashion. First penalty at 7.02, Robertson for tripping but despite this Pirates opened the scoring short-handed at 8.29. Wilson finding Jonsson in alone, Capitals almost gifted ihe equaliser 4 minutes later when Cranston pounced on slack Pirates defence but Lindsay saved at close range. Marsden and Hall clashed behind play at I6.O6 and both received holding penalties with Capitals gaining the best opportunity on the 4 on 4. Coquex alone in front but again Lindsay saved. Malm 2+2 - Cross Checking & Roughing and Hand (2+2 Roughing) then went toe to toe in Pirates zone with the player coach also receiving 2 for Unsportsmanlike Conduct plus a 10 minute Misconduct but Plews for Unsportsmanlike Conduct negated any powerplay.
Second period, again Pirates away quickest, Valstar firing wide from point but Downes was on hand to net the rebound from close range at 22.26. Pirates then got into penalty trouble Robertson Tripping 29.31 and Malmsten (Holding the Slick 31.44 in the box.
A clash behind Lindsay at 31.55 saw Lindahl (Roughing) join his countryman along with Hough (Elbows.) This lime Capitals took advantage of the extra man, Smith finding Coquex in the slot at 32.49 for a powerplay marker and 58 seconds later Cranston netted the equalister. Pirates given a powerplay at 34.43.
Smith for Hooking but it was negated 33 seconds later, Hall called for Slashing. Pirates almost back in front in Ibe final minute, Finnie stopping Swan at point blank range.
The final period started wide open but with few chances. More penalties at 45.29, Wilson and Malmsler clashing both receiving 2 for Delaying the Game with Pirates making best use of the extra space from a Jonsson solo effort.
Capitals back on the powerplay at 47.55 with Valstar going for Tripping but again Pirates close short-handed through Jonsson and they were given a powerplay of their own at 52.52.
Wilson called for Tripping. 31 seconds later and Lindahl fires Pirates back in front with a powerplay goal from point through traffic. Unsavoury incident at 53.55, Coquex attempting to spear someone on Pirates bench but he escaped with a Slashing penalty plus an additional 2 for Unsportsmanlike Conduct as did the Pirates bench.
Again Pirates capitalised on the powerplay, Jonsonn finding Hand unmarked in front at 54.48. Capitals were given two more powerplay opportunities before the end with Downes (Holding the Stick 56.48) and Hand (Holding 59.27) penalised but despite this and also pulling Finnie for an extra skater,they couldn't pull anything back.
