PAISLEY PIRATES 4 KILMARNOCK AVALANCHE 6
The Pirates suffered their first defeat of the season beaten as much by their own indiscipline as by a better team. In the first period Paisley were the stronger force skating hard going for every puck the scoring was opened for Paisley by Gordon Nelson at 4.52mins exactly 1min later Rodger Monson claimed the second to be followed at 11.07mins Gary Morris put us 3 in front with Killie working hard ex Paisley man Colin Read pulled one back at 11.58mins.
The second period was very even handed with both netminders being kept busy.
The third period started badly with the Avalanche scoring at 42.33mins R McWhirter, then the penalties started to pile up the first to Mark Steele for roughing with Colin Read both getting 4mins, James Clark then followed Steele to the box on a misconduct call only to be followed by John Churchill and Colin McMillan on minor calls with these players out Kilmarnock took full advantage and Ryan Findlay 51.06mins then Scott Cowan 54.02mins put Kilmarnock ahead with a goal that appeared to be kicked over the line the goal was allowed to stand by the referee. This spurred on the Paisley players and Mark Andrews on a powerplay levelled the score at 56.13mins with Killie pushing forward Philip Connor put their noses in front again an interferance call on Rodger Monson gave the Avalanche a powerplay and Scott Cowan grabbed his second. Only 40 seconds left on the clock an incident in the corner saw Paisley lose 2 players on match penalties and 4 more receiving 10min misconducts.
