Press
Release taken from Forum- On Monday 22nd of December
the Kilmarnock Storm will host a special challenge
game to help raise funds for three young players heading
off to China. The Storm will face the Edinburgh Eagles,
a University team from the Capital. Chris Wilson, Marc
Fowley and Mark Paterson jet half way round the world
in February to play for team GB in the World Student
Games. They will play games against the Czech Republic,
Canada and the hosts, China, in what will be a once
in a life time experience. Storm management team, Ross
Noble and Stuart Wilson worked with all three players
on last years Scotland U-20 team. Wilson said ''I
can't think of three players who deserve this
opportunity more. Their ability has never been in question,
but to maintain their University studies and still
play hockey at a high level every weekend takes a lot
of effort and sacrifice. When we found out they had
been selected, we wanted to do something to help them
on their way. Chris and Marc play for the Paisley Pirates,
while Mark plays for the Edinburgh Capitals. Wilson
added ''Each player will need to raise in the
region of £1600 to cover the costs of the trip.
While we can't raise this entire amount, I'm
sure we can contribute in some way.'' Wilson,
Fowley and Paterson are expected to play for the Eagles
team. ''Above all else, this will be a tough test
for our team.'' The Storm coach concluded. The
game at Kilmarnock's Galleon Centre will face
off at 6:30pm , admission costs will be £5 for
adults and £3 for kids & concessions,
with all proceeds going to the three players. Well
done to Stuart Wilson, Ross Noble and everyone at Kilmarnock
Storm.
